Fair of Erasmus+ CBHE Projects

On October 25, 2018, the Kazakhstani Consortium of Erasmus+ WELCOME «Towards Incoming International University Communities” project has participated in the Fair of Erasmus+ CBHE Projects Results and the Information Day of the Erasmus+ Programme in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The event was organised at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University with the participation of about 170 representatives of universities of Kazakhstan, national authorities, embassies of EU member countries and other interested organisations. The fair organised by the Erasmus+ National office in Kazakhstan jointly with the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan and Ministry of Education and Science were attended by the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan Mr. Sven-Olov Carlsson and Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Aymagambetov.

The WELCOME «Towards Incoming International University Communities” project presented interim results of the project and was awarded 1st place for outstanding and content-reach presentation at the Erasmus CBHE projects results fair. The L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University presented a WELCOME centre and officially opened it. Congratulations to Erasmus + WELCOME project team!








Study tour in Lisbon, Portugal

In the frame of Erasmus+ project “WELCOME: Towards Incoming International University Communities” from 29th  May to 2nd June a training course on Internationalisation of Higher Education with the participation of universities from partner-countries was held on the basis of the Técnico Lisboa (Portugal).  


The training programme included workshops, discussions, and presentations of universities from Portugal, Spain, Sweden, France, and Estonia. The results of the benchmarking on Internalisation practices & policy frameworks were represented by Técnico Lisboa (WP 1). Besides, the Técnico Lisboa has presented the structure of the International Affairs Area at the Técnico Lisboa.


The KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), University of Perpignan - Via Domitia (France), Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC, Spain), University of Rovira and Virgili (Spain), and Tallinna Teknikaulikool (Estonia) shared their practices in International Strategies in line with National Educational Policies and comprehensive implementation of Internationalisation Strategy.
     

International exchange programmes, such as ATHENS, BEST, ERASMUS+, summer Schools were identified as a tool of the Internationalisation process. During the workshop on Internationalisation all participants formed seven following groups:

  • Internationalization Policy and Strategy
  • Strategic Planning
  • Support Service
  • Mobility and Cooperation
  • International Rankings
  • Double Diploma and Employment
  • Exchange Programs / Summer Schools

The discussion in workshops helped participants to exchange their knowledge and strengthen skills in the development of a Strategic plan on Internationalisation, service support of international students, internationalisation of curriculum, international visibility and etc.
By the end of the Study tour, all representatives of Kazakhstani and Chinese universities presented reports and also they received certificates.


Kick-off meeting in Barcelona, Spain

The kick-off meeting of Erasmus + project WELCOME: Towards Incoming International University Communities had been held on 6-7 March at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain).


The kick-off meeting of Erasmus + project WELCOME Towards Incoming International University Communities attended following project partners:

3.    Narxoz University, Kazakhstan
4.    Kazakh University of Economics, Finance and International Trade, Kazakhstan
5.    KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden

7.    Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia
8.    Tongji University, China
9.    University of Lisbon, Portugal
10.    University Rovira i Virgili, Spain
11.    University of Perpignan France

The main goals and objectives of the project WELCOME were defined by the Project Management Board. During the workshop, all participants presented their universities and structures of International Relations Offices. By the Project Management Board were discussed possible financial issues, project budget, working packages, management of the project, and timeline of working meetings between the consortium participants. By the end of the meeting, a Grant Agreement of Erasmus+ project WELCOME was signed by all partners.
